  • Before the windows were replaced in our house, we used to get these wonderful frost patterns that would appear  especially after very cold nights.  I don't miss the draftiness but I do miss photographing the frost.

  • It was a balmy 35 degrees (Fahrenheit) as I approached this scene. Gloves being off for any period of time would prevent me from operating my camera.

  • The culmination of a moon setting, the sun rising, fog, a lake reflection, a silhouette, and the end of autumn peak colors allowed for quite a scene to photograph. It was a tricky one too, especially doing it in a single frame without overprocessing the image in post-processing. The additional challenge of keeping the moon sharp but being able to pick up the colors of the rest of the scene and maintain a silhouette.

  • The colder it gets the more the ice forms along the western Lake Michigan coast.  A combination of wind and waves produce these spectacular ice formations on anything in the path of the waves and wind.
